There are several levels of engagement in AVRT-based recovery,
starting with your immediate decision,
right
now, to permanently abstain from alcohol and other
drugs. This is entirely possible!
Next, you may review the public area
of the Rational Recovery Center for Self-Recovery. Digest the
essays and articles, and be sure to take The
Internet Crash Course on AVRT. Then, consolidate
your gains by reading Rational Recovery:
The New Cure for Substance Addiction and by viewing the
literature and superb multimedia at the Rational
Recovery Online Bookstore.
The next level of
involvement is in the Subscription
Area which offers advanced AVRT® concepts in
the new, Mini-Course on AVRT®. Gain confidence in permanent
abstinence in monitored discussion by RR founder and AVRT®
developer, Jack Trimpey. In the Subscription Area, you may also
explore an archived BBS that ran from October 2001 to October
2003, containing the logs of thousands of people in the process
of learning AVRT-based recovery. This archive is a national
resource, as it contains the only significant recording of an
open-ended discussion of self-recovery by actively addicted
and recently recovered people. You will likely be fully recovered
long before you could finish reading this massive resource!
Families are also welcome to enter the subscription area
where special discussion folders exist providing AVRT-based
guidance for families with an addicted member. Very often
the reasearch done by families provides vital information
for the addicted member, meaning better days ahead for
the entire family.
The basic subscription is for one month, during which
you will schedule times to participate, execute your Big
Plan, and bring closure to your addiction. A three-month
subscription will allow you time after your Big Plan for
troubleshooting and to get the feel of AVRT-based recovery
in everyday life. Some may be interested in staying on
as a Patron Subscriber, helping Rational Recovery become
a stronger voice in the marketplace of ideas.
If you are forced to participate in
recovery groups, you have two sets of problems: (1) the addiction
that has resulted in your loss of freedom, and (2) playing the
game of “I‘m-an-alcoholic.” As a Rational
Recovery subscriber, you may (1) defeat your addiction, completely,
(2) learn to talk right, so you won’t be so easily exploited
by the addiction treatment industry, and (3) learn specific
strategies and tactics for resisting forced participation, and
(4) bring AVRT-based recovery to the agencies that are stuck
in the dark ages of the recovery group movement.
To take the strongest action against
addiction, register for four days of direct, face-to-face instruction
in AVRT:
The Course, conducted by Mr. Trimpey every month
at Rational Recovery headquarters near Sacramento, California..
A significant other is invited to sit in during the final day
as a participant-observer, to get satisfying answers about AVRT-based
recovery, and to set the stage for eventual reconciliation.
